Mirabeau - Mermaid of the Sea

#171 - Page 3

Page 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

3.24.08 - Drawing her arms and working on their muscles is a critical element of my mermaid.  This is the most difficult part of this project, taking the most time and patience.  Proportion and scale  had to be worked on a long while to get just right.

6/26/08 - Arms are still in progress.  Have been working on hair.

2/7/09

Finally, I'm getting back into Mirabeau.  I'm creating the  portal from her underworld to our world. .....

I'm incorporating real beach glass that I bought at a garage sale, (A whole fish bowl full of browns, greens, and whites.) china - like plates and saucers, shells from Cape San Blas, Florida, stained glass and vitreous tile.

My method is direct.  This piece is on hardi-board.

3/12/09

Here I am establishing my sides first, because the top tile will cover the edge of the vertical tile.

I think that I'm going to create her fins out of glass tile and create the water from stained glass.

I'm using Weldbond and thin-set.
