Just call me crazy! Here I am starting an outdoor wall
mosaic installation in July in Florida! It's certainly one way
to detox naturally. I've been painting the house and got all
excited about creating something Very
magical.

Day
1 / 7-17-07
The wall color is called Jekyll
Sans Souci Green by Valspar and what prompted this project was a
patch job that I could see from my dining room window.
|
|
7/22/07 - Below, I've drawn the pattern on the wall
which evolves as I go. To save time, manpower, and my hands,
I'm trying to use broken tile by hammer, rather then cutting pieces
to fit the spaces.

|
I wear the
most awful, comfortable clothes doing this work. It's
wonderfully liberating not worrying about how you look!
|
At
least nothing is slipping down the wall. Make your paste very
thick to avoid this. |
7-26-07
- Today I put in a good two hours and since it's going to storm soon,
I'm calling it a day. Yesterday, we had 1/2-inch sized
hail. Notice the tarp I've brought out. All my bins are
getting full of rain water, so now I'm covering everything.

On day 2 of this project
by trying to break some thick floor tile on the wall by banging it
with a hammer, I sliced my finger very nicely. I should have
climbed off the ladder and broke it on the ground before climbing
up to my work area. My lesson: It's better to work
slowly and with care to avoid cuts, than try to cut corners! I've borrowed a folding ladder, kind of like a small
scaffold to work on which is a lot better than standing on a
regular ladder.
